The Soul Movement has Begun!

moverWHY WHY WHY do we dance??

Dancing is healing, free-ing, releasing, fun, opening and softening. Its a great practice for returning back to our bodies and for putting our modern day overactive mind back in its proper perspective.   When we dance we give ourselves permission to express our hearts desires, our longings, our loves, our frustrations, our needs, our heartaches, our expansiveness … and, with practice, we can bring that metaphor into our daily lives to serve us on our path to more freedom and more openness in all of our lives. It opens up the closed petals of tension to reveal our truer natures.

Dancing makes us kinder – because it makes us more aware of our own emotions.  You cannot fool the body because the body knows, and is already holding everything which we have not processed; the suffering we did not fully realise, the hurt we did not allow ourselves to truly feel, the anger that we internalised … and so on ….  and so once we move ourselves and begin to feel the whirl of experience that we carry, we naturally begin to cultivate a sense of empathy and compassion for ourselves which we can consciously (or unconsciously – it will naturally evolve that way) extend out to others.

This leads to dancing being a great connector of people – even those of us who have always felt we didn’t fit in (well, my hand is up!) there is always a place on the dance floor for us.  When we move our bodies instinctively, our hearts begin to express their truth with ease.  No-one’s dance is the same – amongst the beauty in the individuality of movement, there is a pulsating union, and we cannot fail to see that we are all from the same family!  There is a communication that happens to easily and readily without words – it is truly a relief to simplify the language of the moment into movement and have our hearts more readily accessible to us.

Once we honour our hearts with our expression, we have moved a bit further down the path of freedom.

Last nights return to our bare feet dance classes was a lovely evening!! It was such a great turn out! Fantastic to see so many people in the hall, and so good to be back in a community of movers and groovers again!

Soul Movement Classes are fun, nurturing, connecting and liberating.  They are a fusion of meditations and relaxations on a dance and movement journey back to our centres.  Next Class is on Friday 6th September and held by Maria Barnicoat at First Tower School. Times: 6:30pm (doors open and music starts at 6:15) til 8:15pm.  Bring water, a blanket and wear comfy layers.

Body & Breath Magic

During this 2 hour journey we will spend half the time diving into the invigorating potential of Conscious, Ecstatic Movement, and the rest of the time absorbing deeply in a Quantum Light Breath Meditation to assist our awakening processes.

Conscious Movement and Ecstatic Dance is an innate ability that we can all tap into. It is a creative and enlivening process that brings us fully into the moment and away from the limiting confines of our minds. For a while we really hear the wisdom in the body, go back to our indigenous roots, find our sense of belonging and our capacity for authentic living in a sacred and welcoming space. When practiced regularly, followers usually find this meditation in movement to be empowering, awakening and confidence boosting.

The Quantum Light Breath is a breathing meditation process that accelerates personal transformation by releasing withheld feelings and revealing unconscious programs. It is designed to take participants into an expanded state of consciousness and ultimately into blissful embodiment. Here, Universal Love is experienced as a natural reality, not as an unreachable concept, where there is a deep connection to the Universal Intelligence. Quantum Light Breath participants often describe “Satori,” or awakening experiences during the practice. This meditation, that we will be guided through via a CD recording, creates space for personal exploration, emotional release without engaging in “story,” personal transformation and group connection. Using deeply effective guidance, we dive into the healing power of the breath, grounded by the magical sounds of the didgeridoo and toning, as well as flute, harmonium, Tibetan bells and bowls, drums, and channeled melody. We’ll re-connect with our bodies and each other through spontaneous movement and authentic personal sharing.

A Dance for Endings, Darkness and New Life:

A Dance for Endings, Darkness and New Life:

Sunday 18th December, The Bridge Family Centre 7-9pm

In Latin, solstice means ‘sun set still’ and Winter Solstice is the great stillness before the Sun’s strength builds, and days grow longer.

We will dance consciously into the fruitful dark out of which new life can eventually emerge. Everything lies dormant in the silent night, a sacred time of rest before the awakening, and the slow build toward longer days. We will also dance for the sun that starts a new cycle at winter solstice and acknowledge the suns rays shining into the dark and nurturing the new life there to be cultivated.

What to wear?
Comfortable layered clothing you can move and groove in. Long sleeves for floor work will keep you cozy and allow you to rolls across the floor easier if you feel the need!. It is a barefoot practice, but if you have dance shoes, bring them!

Conscious Dance
Is a dance practice that cleanses your mind with sweat and breath, laughter and prayer. We let go of conversation, dissolve into movement and discover the anatomy of the soul. You will awaken your own imagination and move through personal exploration into a loving, intimate relationship with body, mind, heart, and source energy. We are powerful creative beings and the dance helps us liberate that power and intent.

This dance will be facilitated by Maria. All are welcome! Cost £7
If you have never been before, come along, now is a great time to start 🙂
