Wild Earth Dance

A dance floor for you to journey into a deep connection with yourself and experience the liberation and ecstatic relief of full body integration and presence through conscious movement.

Our space is dimly lit with a supportive creative community of bodies being facilitated into moving meditation through gentle encouragement of moment by moment awareness, with compassion and acceptance of the beautiful and tragic human condition, personal and collective.  Dance melts and heals our hearts and gives us the courage and possibility to fully be ourselves without apology.

Our gathering is at the gateway to the Spring Equinox when the Sun moves into the constellation of Aries for new beginnings (coinciding with a full moon just to add to the heightened energy!). During our evening together we’ll take time to create a body prayer meditation for this celebrated time, to tune into our deepest calling so that our seedling energy and efforts for the year grow from a place of reflected congruence and heartsong.

Beginners and seasoned movers all welcome.

Join us and remember why dance has been an intrinsic part of our cultural community expression since time began.

Bring: water, blanket
Wear: comfy layers
Cost: £12 (book your place before 12th March and pay earlybird price of just £10)
Location: The Bridge Family Centre in Le Geyt Road
Time: 7 to 9pm. Please arrive 10 minutes early to begin on time together.

The evening is facilitated by Maria Barnicoat who started holding regular conscious dance classes back in 2008 (‘bare foot ecstatic dance’ and later ‘soul movement’) after immersing in shamanic dance practices that supported and deepened her personal growth and spiritual journey. Influenced strongly by 5Rhythms, Movement Medicine, Soul Motion, Buddhism, Nature and Mysticism with a passion for conserving our planet, staying grateful and overthrowing the patriarchy,

“We dance to shed skins, tear off masks, crack molds, and experience the breakdown – the shattering of borders between body, heart and mind. “ – Gabrielle Roth (founder of the 5Rhythms)

Natural Migraine Relief

MIGRAINE RELIEF

After many many years of suffering the dreaded M word, I have managed to not only massively reduce the frequency and duration of these migraines I get, but also remedy them when they are in action (the hardest part – once they start they have a life force of their own which is adamant to play its full term out!).

My story:

I think I was around 9 or 10 when I started getting frequent migraines. I had suffered the odd terrible headache and possibly migraine before that, but this was the age I remember they really put their hooks into my life. I relied heavily on painkillers and off course darkened rooms with no noise.

Back then I actually had a diet massively lacking in fresh fruit and vegetables and instead heavily processed foods. I literally never drank water. My main drink supply during childhood was squash, or later on it was sweet soda drinks like coke and irn bru.

My digestion wasn’t so good but I don’t remember much about that and didn’t have chronic symptoms that I remember until my teens when I started to become bloated and have bad acne and hormonal issues.

It has taken this long to find my triggers and do something long term about them (I’m now 42). Medication stopped working for me many years ago, it was hit and miss and I officially binned the painkillers about 3-4 years ago.

What works for me to prevent them:

Lots of water

A diet FULL of fresh fruit and vegetables.

Back neck and should massages

Good sleep

Foods I have reduced massively and are my triggers:

Strawberries

Smoked Salmon (this was the only processed food I was eating)

Fatty Foods/Rich foods/Too many different combination foods

Cooked tomatoes

Red Wine

(These are all foods which are high histamine – research high histamine foods to see which others you might need to avoid or reduce).

What I do when I have a migraine starting:

I use doTERRA CPTG Essential Oils – the purest on the planet: Peppermint and Lavender almost neat around my entire hairline, forehead and back of the neck every hour. Some people also swear by Copaiba and also Frankincense. Also a blend that doTERRA do called Past Tense is also very effective and worth a try. One size does not fit all so its good to experiment and see. Click here to enter my shop, or send me an email to mariaearthbeauty@gmail.com to arrange a 1-2-1 consultation in person or on skype.

Very Cold Coconut Water (2 litres to be drunk within a couple of hours of each other) – you can watch the video below and see why this works.  I came across this accidentally as I found I was CRAVING coconut water and it seems there’s scientific evidence as to why this helps!

Water with 2 drops of CPTG Peppermint Oil

A strong black coffee

ALSO:

There is a link with people that get migraines and not having enough GABA in the diet. Research this and see if this could be you.

Structural issues and more serious issues can also cause migraines (especially new ones out of the blue), so its good to check this out too. I know regular migraines are also a nice preventative for me.

Also, see Dr Michelle Stanton’s Research and finding into Migraines on YouTUBE.

This talks a lot of the importance of electrolyte balance and the hyper excitability of a migraine brain. Interesting.

4th Trimester love reflections

Wow. Just taken back by an old blog on Facebook that I just had to share when Suki turned 3 months!!

With such light we arrive!

The first 3 months of a baby’s life …. are in some traditions referred to as the 4th trimester in pregnancy. In a few days Suki and I will be leaving this delicate and watery realm as she turns 3 months old. I’m still so blissed out at having this sweet human life transcend me into motherhood. And so eternally grateful. Every day I’m in wonderment at her and more in love with her. How blessed we have been. Many people have made a huge difference to me during this 3 month journey. I know I can knock modern healthcare professionals, but the staff at the hospital were mainly amazing. One doctor, Kate, showed such care towards me as I was given a blood transfusion, and countless midwives who took care of me were just awesome. I can’t remember hardly any of their names now because of the other realm I was in at the time! Amy, taking me to hospital, being with me through the journey of Suki arriving and being SUCH a support in countless ways… And since then, so many sweet friends dropping by food, doing washing up for me, giving me massages, generous gifts, being with me and my tears in my washed out tender moments – reminding me of my ok-ness. I have tried to hold strong to keeping this 3 month transit as quiet a time as I can .. and try not to castrate myself when I make mistakes or feel inadequate. In this modern world, I know many women do not give themselves the opportunity to rest and receive after birth and I wish more than anything that new mothers get to experience what I did and have support for their tenderness at hand. Rest woman, rest. Be. Listen. Feel. Open. And know you will never experience anything more touching and precious. I would have plummetted into the cold and dark postnatal depression if it hadn’t been for allowing my vulnerable voice to be heard by close friends and my fairy godmother so that the clenched anxieties, exhausted embodied emotions could be seen and released. And they are still being heard, as I continue this intense, sweet voluptuous road .. and then they are passed into the wind with each sigh. What a delicate and sacred time for a mother and her own inner child …. all the facets of woman show up to dance their stories here … as I tend to the earth beneath Suki and her beginning in this life … <3

Winter Solstice Sweat Lodge with Melanie Wartho

During solstice we are in transition, moving from the darkest time into the time of more light.

Entering the sweat lodge at this time will help us to make this transition with more ease, as in the lodge we are shedding what is no longer needed in our lives and gaining insight into the best that we can do in the future. We are leaving behind the old and creating a space for the new to come flooding in. Join us in celebration of this time and welcome all the best in with love!

During this ceremony, we separate for a time from the physical world and go within ourselves to be able to see with clarity what needs to be healed or resolved and pray for guidance from the ancient grandmothers and grandfathers who have walked the Earth before us. We allow ourselves to connect directly with their wisdom and the original memory that resides within us all.

Everyone is welcome.

Working with the Power of our Menstrual Cycle

An honest conversation about being in harmony with our menstrual cycle and how we can harness the energy of our menstruation or Moon time to work with it and add power and benefit to our lives and the planet.

Cost: £20 or £35 for both events
Venue: 6 Gorey Pier, St Martin (plenty of parking)

About Melanie Wartho:
Mel has been living and working in South America for 23 years, during this time she has travelled extensively in Argentina, lived in Bolivia, travelled through Central America and lived in Ecuador and ultimately Peru. It is during her time in Ecuador that she first chose to work closely with local Shamen and healers for her own personal healing, as she progressed she began to facilitate the healing of others and learn more about the old traditions and the wisdom of the indigenous peoples of the Americas. She has been working with native healers and shamen now for 13 years. She embarked upon a Vision Quest following the tradition of the Lakota people and has also completed 4 years of Sundance, she has studied with a Shuar healer in the jungle of Ecuador, and ultimately has spent 2 years working with and learning from Shamen in the jungle of Peru. She brings with her a lot of the knowledge and wisdom of the people who are still very connected to nature, working with plant medicines and listening to what nature has to tell us.

Transforming the Menopause Stigma

Transforming the Menopause Stigma

With Melanie Wartho

This workshop is open to women of all ages and will deal specifically with our time before, during and after menopause.

The menopause, like menstruation, is seen as a burden, something that we shouldn’t discuss except in negative and unhealthy terms.

The intention of this workshop is to dispel the myths surrounding menopause and to help us to find the immensity of the new powers as healers and grandmothers that we have access to, when we know how to find it.

Too many times have we heard comments from women about their fear of the menopause before they have it along with women who see the menopause as a bad thing and therefore relate to any symptoms they may have as purely difficult, and those women who believe that now they are menopausal, or that when the menopause comes, their life has no meaning and that they are barren and therefore worthless with a life that will be empty.

Now is the time to relearn the positive truths about ourselves as menopausal and post menopausal women.

This workshop is specifically for you if you recognise any of the above feelings either in yourself or someone close.
